As we all know the impact of Hurricane Katrina will be long felt in the Gulf Coast Region and all across America.  We’d like to acknowledge the achievements over the last four years and strengthen solidarity in continued recovery by celebrating Mandela Day on July 18, 2009 Mandela Day is a global campaign that asks people to take 67 minutes of their time on July 18 to honor the 67 years Nelson Mandela has spent making the world a better place.  A group of local non-profit advocates is organizing Imprint on the Impact; a 67-minute walk in Biloxi which celebrates the 4 years spent making our Gulf Coast a better place after Katrina.  The walk will begin at 9:53 a.m. in front of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and will end at 11:00 a.m., when Hurricane Katrina made landfall in Mississippi.

We invite you to participate and to also encourage your co-workers, other non-profit allies, friends, and family to join us in our celebration.  Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities are also available for those interested.  Please see the enclosed flyer for more information and call 228-396-4008 or email kpribanic@makeitfair.com for questions, or to RSVP for the event.  As advocates and leaders in our communities, we’ve all given our time and energy in some form to Katrina recovery and our success has come from our collaborative efforts.  Help us thank one another while also raising awareness on continued post-Katrina need in the next four years of recovery.
